Reborn in 2013 after a decade-long revamp, this is the largest of Amsterdam’s “big three,” alongside the Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk. It’s actually the country’s largest art museum, with record-breaking attendance to match. The building is a waltz through history, juggling Gothic and Renaissance elements, which, post-face lift, are once again at their best, thanks to Spanish firm Cruz y Ortiz.
